Network Rail, working with principal contractor Story Contracting, contracted Forte Engineering to provide all the electrical and power services for a £5m project to improve accessibility at Port Glasgow station in Inverclyde.

As part of the access for all scheme, a new footbridge was constructed taking station users from the entrance, over the railway, with lifts providing step-free access to and from the Gourock bound platform, and the park and ride car park.

Forte Engineering delivered the new lighting and CCTV cameras over the access ramp as well as supplying all the electrical and comms installation.

Paul Shopp, Scheme Project Manager at Story Contracting said, ”The project is going well and the team at Forte Engineering have been both very accommodating and flexible. All elements of the works are progressing well against programme requirements. We worked closely with Mark McGlinchey at the outset of the project to develop a robust programme of works and timescales and that planning has been a fantastic asset for both Story Contracting and the contract. This is something Forte Engineering excel at, and it helps them stand out as subcontractors for us.”
