Forte Engineering Ltd delivered the Design and Construction services for the Mechanical & Electrical and Telecoms works for Edinburgh Waverley Capacity Improvement Project.

Works included the production of detailed design and construction of

  • Platform Lighting
  • Train Watering Points
  • Buffer Stop Lighting and associated works throughout the station

Forte Engineering Ltd managed the design delivery of each key activity through to construction and hand back to Network Rail.

Telecoms

  • Installation of new CCTV cameras to the system & alterations to the GUI.
  • Installation & Commissioning of CIS screens on new platforms.
  • Alterations to the PAVA system for new platforms & new Gate-line
  • Installation of new SPT`s on platforms & alterations to the Signaller Concentrator.
  • A new structured cabling system within Scotrail`s accommodation block.
  • New copper and fibre cabling installation and commissioning

Mechanical

  • Design & Installation of new Cold-Water Pipework to Train Watering Points through Platform 5,6 &12.
  • Bespoke design of Train Watering Point hatches including the co-ordination of all end users including NR Maintenance & TOC's.
  • Removal of redundant services including water pipework & gas services.

Electrical

  • High Bay Platform Lighting Platform 5, 6 & 12 complete design & installation solution including the manufacture of bespoke lighting control systems to replicate the existing discontinued system.
  • Earthing & Bonding; this included a fully integrated design & installation of the system with other disciplines to existing station earthing system.
  • Gateline design & installation of all M&E and Telecoms systems including Fire & Emergency controls.
  • Retail & Operational Telecoms LV supplies and immunisation of assets to the electrified system.
  • Points Heating design & Installation of new heating system 150 A/B & 124, this included a Value Engineering solution to remove high installation costs.
  • Footbridge & Escalator Lighting, Design & Installation of new lighting system including fast track temporary solution to enable Edinburgh Festival stageworks
